Croy and the Boys
Clever Country
Country, Americana
Solo, Duo, 5-pc
“Behind indelible, unassuming melodies, [Croy and the Boys] deliver social critiques with a warm smile and two-step rhythms like a honky-tonk Howard Zinn.” —The Austin Chronicle
BIOGRAPHY
Croy and the Boys are a songwriter driven honky tonk band from Austin, Texas. Their sound is unmistakably Austin, not just in their musical influences, channeling both the Tex-Mex sounds and slacker attitudes of Doug Sahm and the Texas Tornadoes, along with the hard driving electric dance hall country of the surrounding Texas Hill Country, but also in the decidedly left social commentary contained in the lyrics. With song titles like “Gentrification” “Luxury (Is A Four Letter Word To Me)” and “ Howdy High-rise”, there isn’t another hub of country music that this band could be from but Austin. Croy and the Boys have held down weekly residencies at the now famous White Horse, are 2020 Black Fret nominees, have recorded with Adrian Quesada (Black Pumas, Brownout, Grupo Fantasma) and Jim Eno (Spoon), and proud members of HAAM.
