BIOGRAPHY
Christopher Gates is a highly experienced performer, entertainer, and singer/songwriter born and raised on the bayous of central Louisiana. Chris spent his early years in the oil fields, farms and forests of the deep south and was heavily influenced by the working class sounds of Southern Rock, Classic Country and Americana music. He moved to Texas in 2003 to attend college and afterward began his music career in Austin as Worship Leader and Creative Arts Director for a large church, writing liturgies, composing worship music, and directing services and festivals. In 2010 he was asked to join the 8-piece rock n roll cover band The Rocket Brothers as lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist where he discovered his passion for entertaining a wider variety of audiences. Feeling more connected to the honky tonk sounds of his youth, Chris started a solo career writing songs and playing over 200 live shows a year. His songwriting reflects the joy and triumphs, and often the harsh realities of everyday life growing up in the Bible belt, and his deep, soulful voice echoes the beauty in the struggles that come with heartbreak and unanswered prayers. After 15 years in the hustle and bustle of the city Chris has set up shop in his hometown and now performs all over Louisiana, East Texas and Southern Arkansas.
