Carolyn Wonderland
Austin Music Hall Of Fame Blues Rocker
Blues, Rock
Solo, 4-Piece
“With incendiary guitar chops and raw, powerful vocals, fiery Texas blues rocker Carolyn Wonderland draws instant comparisons to fellow Texans Stevie Ray Vaughan and Janis Joplin.” — NPR Music
BIOGRAPHY
Austin Music Hall of Fame 2020, John Mayall's guitarist and leader of the Carolyn Wonderland Band. Carolyn has toured all over the world with her band and John's. Growing up in Houston, Carolyn had one foot in the Blues scene and the other tapping away with hippies, folkies, and punks. Mostly known as a guitarist and gifted with a strong voice and being a heck of a songwriter, she also plays lap steel, keys, and trumpet. She has played and recorded with friends and heroes from James Williamson (Stooges) and Vince Welnick (Tubes, Grateful Dead) to Lavelle White. She even got to jam with Bob Dylan at his request, and played a few Midnight Rambles with Levon Helm at his magical barn in Woodstock. A little bit of luck and a lot of miles later, she still gets to play music! New album produced by Dave Alvin (Blasters, X) with friends like Shelley King, Marcia Ball, Cindy Cashdollar, Jimmy Dale Gilmore, and Red Young pitching in, making for a great recording. Hoping to release this fall.
